Wren's in his own head; he's got a song working itself out and the thought to drop by Crossroads to ask Spencer some questions maybe.
It all clears when he hears the shriek. That's not stupid kids playing kind of "get off me", and he looks around.
There's something way too familiar about a bunch of jocks picking up some eyelinery kid, girl or not, and he can feel himself getting angry. But when he sees her fall - get thrown - he takes off running, alarmed before they even start yelling. He's been swimming in ocean waves since he could walk, jumping off cliffs like an idiot. He knows fear when he sees it, and this isn't swimming season.
"It's October and you threw a girl off the boardwalk," he snaps at the boys, skewering them with a glare as he sheds his jacket. "Do you have a brain between you? Go get help. Now!"
He dives off into the waves, filling his lungs as he hits the freezing water. The current's strong here. He treads water, looking around, and sees a flash of pale skin, flailing. Wren takes off for her, reaching an arm out to grab her to him.
