Abigail bought the car dirt cheap- an absolute junker and wreck of a car, Abby spent time doing it up and finding and sourcing the parts. She spent two years on it until it was finally done. Driving the car out to her college, her mom paid for the petrol and Abby never quite realised how much gas actually cost.
However driving it up to Siren Cove was on her own dime and she ended up stranded in Siren Cove, no way home with pretty much no money and doesn't want to call her mom to come bail her out.

Abby slept in her car for a bit and what little money Abigail has is going towards a really, cheap and nasty motel (The ill reputed Sounds of Sirens motel) that is pretty much infested with cockroaches and Abby's pretty sure she heard a rat there.
